If adding an outdoor fountain for your garden has not yet crossed your mind then you truly are missing out on an aesthetically pleasing and very versatile addition. Most people conjure images of giant fountains with cupids or Greek gods and/or goddesses. This is an out of date conception, garden fountains need not be like this anymore. Fountains can fill corners, liven up a walkway, be an accessory on your deck, or be the garden centerpiece.
So why would a person want to spend extra money on a garden fountain? There are quite a few reasons actually. If you really want your garden to be aesthetically pleasing, then nothing can help to do this better than an outdoor fountain. The sound of flowing water contributes greatly to a gardens sense of serenity, having a calming effect. Even if your yard is not beautiful, or you have no interest in doing the work necessary to design one, garden fountains make for an effective alternative. You can place them centrally to draw everyone’s immediate attention, or you can place them somewhere off to the side, providing a soothing periphery that will liven surroundings.
There is a wide array of different styles and materials available to you when it comes to outdoor fountains and this incredible array simply makes it even more customizable than you may ever have imagined. First and foremost you are going to want to put consideration into the size of your garden. If your yard is rather large then you are going to want to choose a rather large fountain to compliment it with, for example. If your yard or garden is smaller on the other hand then you are going to want to choose a small water feature otherwise you may end up dwarfing an already small space with a feature that is simply too large. If your yard is really, really small, then a wall fountain may be the best option because it will not take as much space up and will let you use your precious real estate for other purposes.
The other consideration that you are going to want to make pertains to the style of the fountain that you want to implement in your garden space. You are going to want to choose either an outdoor fountain based on the furniture you have, or choose the furniture based on the outdoor fountain that you have. Make sure that your fountain is compatible with your décor on an overall basis for the best possible results. This is especially going to be true when it comes to the plants that you are going to be using in order to surround your fountain. When using a ground fountain, taller is generally the better way to go with your plants.

There are three primary types of paving stones in existence that you can use for the purpose of creating a unique and interesting driveway space, patio space or walkway. These three primary types of pavers are:
- Concrete pavers, which are made out of cement materials,
- Brick pavers, which are made out of clay materials,
- Stone pavers, which are made out of natural stone material such as flagstone or granite,
All of these types of pavers also come in a wide variety of different shapes and colors, and what this means is that you have a wide variety of different options to choose from when you are putting stones down for different purposes. There are a wide variety of different popular patterns that are regularly used for the purpose of paving using stones, and these include circles, herringbone pattern, basket weave pattern and many others as well. If you are trying to be even more creative, then something else that you may want to consider is mixing various designs together with different colored stones in order to create a unique concept.
Paving your driveway or patio space with stones is something that can offer an excellent first impression for people that visit your home. There are a number of different things that you are going to want to be aware of when it comes to paving with stones, however. These things include climate, drainage consideration, how much time is available for the purpose of maintenance and what your budget is. All of these things are going to need to be considered long before you set about on this process.
No matter whether you will be using stones or pavers or any other materials for your patio process, you are going to need to consider using edging because there are numerous advantages to using edging when paving driveways, paths or patios, including:
- It offers supports for the pavers,
- It reduces the chance of cracks appearing,
- It adds to the appearance of the paved space,
- It reduces the amount of maintenance that is required.
The most popular type of paver that you are going to come across when putting stones down for a patio, a driveway or any other purpose is going to be stone pavers, which are natural and beautiful. What you need to keep in mind however is that these are not always the best option for every situation. In some situations it may be more ideal for you to use brick, which is a stronger material and also happens to be more durable as well. Brick is also capable of adapting better when it comes to shifts in the ground that may occur throughout the year.

The purpose of a country garden is to create tranquil enjoyment of the aromatic beauty that nature has to offer, but this does not mean that your garden should not be functional. There are a number of ways that you can turn a beautiful and luscious garden into a functional space as well. Consider, for example, installing winding pathways and intimate patio spaces. You can line these spaces with your favorite colorful plants. Implementing different textures is another way to add key elements to the unique country landscape that you are attempting to create. The paths and the terraces that you construct should make use of materials that are simple and natural, and they should be allowed to complement your home and the other elements in your garden.
Some of the paving materials that are recommended for the creation of a country garden landscape include:
- * Cobblestone - Walkways as well as patios that are made from cobblestone are quite typical for a variety of different types of European landscape and garden designs. They are capable of adding a truly elegant touch to any garden, which is often capable of suiting a wide variety of modern homes.
- * Flagstone - This is another truly sophisticated option when it comes to paving your walkways and your patio spaces.
- * Weathered Brick - This is an excellent flooring choice when you are trying to create an atmosphere that is charming and romantic.
- * Gravel – Gravel can be an inexpensive and rustic choice when you are looking for a material for your country garden landscape paths.
You should be attempting to integrate sharp angles as well as straight lines any time that you are designing a walkway or patio for your country garden landscape space. This is a great way to create a formal appearance. If you are looking for a more informal style, then you should integrate sweeping edges and soft curves for the best results. You should keep expanses of grass down to a minimum if you are attempting to create an authentic looking country garden landscape design, though it is suggested that you integrate small lawns for children as well as pets when possible.
The most popular of all landscape designs tend to incorporate elements reflecting a relaxed elegance and rustic charm of nature, Europe and the Mediterranean. You should choose design elements, materials and accessories that are capable of complementing whatever overall theme you are attempting to create without taking away from the modern style design of your home.
Some design elements worth considering include flower beds, picket fences, iron fences, gazebos, well designed pathways, decorative ponds, wooden footbridges, bright and vivid colors, fresh flower arrangements, dried flower arrangements and anything else that makes you enjoy the space even more than before.
