There are seven different, basic elements that are going to be required when you are beginning an organic container garden of any time. These seven elements are water, plants, sunlight, temperature, fertilizers or nutrients, patience and adequate space.
1. Plants are one of the more obvious basic elements because they are what is going to be planted, grown and harvested. This is what organic gardening is all about. You should be choosing plants that you are interested in growing and harvesting in order to get the most out of your garden space. You can grow anything you want in containers, and the plants will stay adequately sized for the containers because the roots will be properly contained. Determine the types of plants or crops you are interested in growing and make sure to use them properly.
2. Water is another essential for your organic garden. The soil in your planters should always be properly watered, but you should take care not to drown your plants. The soil should be moist but never overly wet.
3. Sunlight is another essential, and it needs to be offered to your plants every single day. Make sure that your plants are being placed in an area where they are going to receive adequate daily sunlight. You must also make sure to remove them if it becomes too hot, however, because the leaves can be burned or dried out by too much sun.
4. Temperature is another essential, as plants should be kept in a steady temperature ranging between 55 degrees and 75 degrees Celsius. This will help to make sure that your plants keep their moisture and maintain their shine. The roots of your container plants are going to be much more sensitive to temperature than plants that are placed in the ground, so make sure that your plants are getting the right temperature in order for them to thrive.
5. Fertilizers and nutrients are also vital for the success of your plants. Choose organic fertilizers that contain no chemicals to make sure that your plants get everything they need and nothing that they don’t. You can buy a multitude of different fertilizer products from your local gardening shop.
6. Planning out your gardening space is also important. You are going to need a fair bit of space in order to accommodate your container garden, so make sure that you plan this all out properly before you go about planting. Once you plant in your containers, moving them may be difficult.
7. Finally, patience is an often overlooked but vitally important element when it comes to organic container gardening. Make sure that you are patient when working with your garden in order to obtain the best possible results. This is the best way to ensure that you enjoy your garden and allow it to thrive in your care.
